The New York City Council passed a bill to create a task force to help address the city's pervasive bedbug problem.

(AP) - With bedbug complaints on the rise throughout New York City, the City Council passed a bill that would create a task force to stamp out the creepy crawlies.

The legislation creates a Bed Bug Advisory Board made up of an exterminator and an entomologist. It also would include officials from the city health, sanitation and housing agencies.

The team must issue recommendations on addressing the city's bedbug problem.
