Subject: TEEN GIRLS ON THE PINE RIDGE REZ WANT TO GO TO PROM TOO - CAN U HELP?? A SHOUT-OUT TO ALL WHO MIGHT HAVE NEW, OR GENTLY USED STYLISH PROM DRESSES NO LONGER WANTED / NEEDED.

Friends,

Some of you have asked in the past and I just received a bulletin from my friend Graywolf with an important special request. I'm reaching out to ask all the ladies out there to come together for a great cause. Don't worry, this one's fun, I promise!

Remember that one magical night called prom? The night you dressed in your finest to attend the end-of-year, dance-of-a-lifetime? Sure you do, and your Mother has those embracing photos to prove it!

I'm writing today to ask you to help a new generation of young women so they too might be able to go to their high school prom in a nice frock. It's simple enough. All you have to do is dig through your wardrobes for any suitable
prom dresses / shoes / accessories, and send your fabulous donations to teen girls on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

These young Lakota women are just like any other young girl out there with a dream to attend the high school prom. Since it's the time of year to be "out with the olding" of things anyway, and the Pine Ridge proms are coming in just 10 days, this one's a win-win scenario!

THE 411:

PLEASE SEND VIA UPS OR EXPEDITED MAIL TO THE FOLLOWING PERSON / ADDRESS AND SHE'LL SEE TO IT THAT THE DRESSES GET TO TEEN GIRLS ON PINE RIDGE WHO COULD USE THEM MOST FOR PROM:

Attn: Rose Mesteth
20350 BIA-2
KYLE, SOUTH DAKOTA 57752

DRESSES OF ANY SIZE ARE NEEDED, AS WELL AS SHOES OF ALL SIZES FOR THEIR DRESSES. PLEASE EXPEDITE SHIPPING FOR ARRIVAL BY APRIL 17TH AT THE LATEST!! ***REMEMBER: NEED IS URGENT AS THE PROM IS ONLY 10 DAYS AWAY!!!***

If you could spread this message to any and all of the women you know who may be able to help, it would be so greatly appreciated. Whether helping means making an announcement in church tomorrow asking others to donate...or a simple email / phone call to a friend, loved-one, sister, aunt or daughter. passing the word along.. it's all we need to get this prom dress donation going like gang-busters! You can help make the memory of a lifetime happen for a young woman.

THANK YOU, in advance.

Sincerely,
counterspinyc

-- Save Our Tribal Youth -- Our Mission:

The Indigenous people of the Western hemisphere have a rich, diverse and wonderful history filled with stories, religions, differing family structures, economic systems and so much more. With this beauty of history in mind filled with heroes such as Crazy Horse, Geronimo and many others, we at Save Our Tribal Youth have decided that the best way to honor our history as Native peoples is to bring the stories of our peoples to the tribal children on the reservations. We strive to serve as a conduit through which hope is communicated through speakers and many other methods to restore and heal our people through our culture. Here's to our people, our children and not only to the celebration of our rich history but our present and future through our children. We will strive to stem the tide of hopelessness, drug abuse, alcoholism and suicide with a rejuvenation of the Native American spirit of creativity, joy and life. It isn't necessary to be an Indigenous person to help SOTY - if you have a heart for children, an interest in Indigenous cultures or whatever your reason might be, we encourage you to join us. Thanks!
