NOW is the Time for Congress and the President to Extend Jobless Benefits! I'm asking you to PLEASE call your "representatives"! If they DID NOT vote for the extension, tell them you'll be voting for their opponent in a few weeks time. If they DID, don't forget to congratulate them FOR ACTUALLY DOING THEIR JOB & tell them they MUST do everything possible to make sure this resolution passes on Nov. 17 - 19, because in doing so, YOU'RE going to help save THEIR jobs by voting for them on election day. Get a petition going - e-mail petitions fly like wildfire. The more people in your area who make this pledge, the more signatures you deliver to your "representative", the more seriously you'll be treated. Politicians only "care" during election years. So, MAKE 'EM CARE about YOU and their constituents'! This works, I swear.

In the meantime, let's get on to the meat of the matter. But, to do so requires we go back a bit, so please bear with me - who knows, you might even learn something. In September, the U.S. lost the most jobs in FIVE YEARS and earnings rose less than forecasted as the credit crisis deepened in the then already slowing-d own economy. This 6.1% equals the HIGHEST UNEMPLOYMENT rates since mid-1994. Payrolls fell by 159,000 - more than anticipated - after a 73,000 job decline in August, the Labor Department said recently. The jobless rate --> the last reported BEFORE the coming presidential election <-- remained at 6.1%. Hours worked reached the lowest levels since records began being reported, in 1964. This figure represents 8.5 million people who do not have jobs but are actively seeking work.

This 6.1% unemployment rate initially climbed in August ~ cutting around 84,000 jobs ~ then, what should have been dramatic proof of the mounting damage of the DEEPLY troubled economy and how it was inflicting on workers / businesses alike . Before, in July, the jobless rate jumped from the 5.7 percent as the US economy lost 60,000 jobs. In June, a whopping 100,000 jobs were lost! The latest snapshot was worse than forecasts by their economists who were predicting payrolls would only drop by around 75,000 in August and the jobless rate would go up a notch - to 5.8%. Boy were they wrong! Way wrong.

In fact, according to the U.S. Labor Department, job losses in August were not only numerous, they were widespread ~ perhaps an even better economic forecast indicator than merely counting rising numbers. Call it the closest thing to a crystal ball prediction as we could have had. Factories cut 61,000 jobs; construction firms eliminated 8,000 jobs; retailers axed 20,000 slots; professional / business services slashed 53,000 positions and leisure / hospitality axed 4,000 employees. Though, it doesn't seem Wall Street has suffered the seemingly no-brainer losses most would think are deserving. Anyone have the numbers on this sector's job losses in the last week? Guess we'll have to wait until after the election.

What's even more telling is that these widespread losses swamped employment gains in the government, education and health sectors. Also, that job losses at ALL private employers — excluding government — came to 101,000 in August and WORKERS AGES 25 AND OLDER ACCOUNTED FOR ALL THE INCREASE IN UNEMPLOYMENT, in that month. So, what do all of these numbers and economic forecasting really mean? Well, how about we're in deep do-do and we really have to do something to pull ourselves out of this hole? Except, anyone caught in the quagmire certainly understands this is easier said than done! How does starting with extending those exhausted unemployment benefits to the millions of people who've exhausted their benefits (and extension) sound?

Q: Why are federal extended jobless benefits so important?
A: Unemployment benefits help families get back on their feet after losing a job, but they also go a LONG WAY to help boost the struggling economy when families spend their benefits in communities hardest hit by the recession. Of special relevance to today's housing crisis, one major study also found that unemployment benefits REDUCE the chances a worker will be FORCED to sell the family home by almost ONE-HALF! Thus, unemployment benefits save family homes, which also helps save those communities where foreclosures are having a major impact on the economy. Think unemployment's not a problem in your area? Just give it a little more time and I guarantee, you'll be thinking again and wishing you had paid closer attention. So, before this happens, SNAP OUT OF YOUR DOLDRUMS and DO SOMETHING! Of course, there are always exceptions, say, like those wealthy Wall Street wanker-bankers living in the top five most wealthy (of the top 25 most wealthy) US zip codes in NY, including: 11765; 11976; 11975; 10013 and 10007. Anyone got a 100 dozen eggs to spare?

Q: Why extend federal jobless benefits now? A: Despite the MASSIVE $850 BILLION Wall Street bailout, winning the far smaller, simpler and more affordable expansion of jobless benefits to help the 800,000 Main Street workers who have now RUN OUT of their limited 13 weeks of federal emergency aid (as of October 5th), has proven a much rockier road. A report from the Labor Department last week showed a surge in long-term unemployment (now up OVER 2 million workers unemployed LONGER than six months, 600,000 just since January) should have been MORE than ENOUGH to underscore the need for Congress AND our lame duck President to act without delay, but somehow, it DIDN'T. Compared to prior recessions, MORE workers are UNEMPLOYED TODAY for MUCH LONGER PERIODS. Thus, making it critical to provide the help they need when their state unemployment benefits run out (after only six months).

In January 2008, there were 1.4 million workers STILL UNEMPLOYED after ACTIVELY looking for work FOR MORE THAN SIX MONTHS (or, 18.3 % of all jobless workers). That's MORE than TWICE the number who were long-term unemployed when the last two recessions began (in March 2001 and in July 1990). The National Employment Law Project (NELP) estimates 3.2 million workers will run out of state unemployment benefits by the 2008 alone (READ: this ONLY 11 weeks and 3 days from now, folks!).

Q: How long should extended benefits last? A: Given the significant increase in long-term unemployment compared to prior recessions, it's ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT for jobless benefits to be extended for at least 20 weeks, or MORE than the limited 13 weeks provided after the last recession (a mere few weeks ago, waaaaay back in June). Legislation was introduced in the Senate (S. 2544) to extend benefits by 20 weeks in all states, while also providing another 13 weeks (or, 33 weeks total) to states with especially high unemployment (above 6 percent). During the 1990s recession, (the other) President Bush and Congress provided 20-26 weeks of extended benefits to workers in ALL states. Recognizing the record increase in gas and food prices, the current Senate bill additionally calls for a $50 increase a week in each worker's unemployment check. WoW! - A w-h-o-l-e $50 dollars, peeps! Compared to $850 BILLION bailout, this seems like chump change, doesn't it? So...stop be a chump! REMEMBER THIS chimp-handling on election day! Let's divide the chimps from the chumps.

Q: Where are the Congress and the President on the need to extend jobless benefits? A: Last week, the President issued a message threatening to veto the extension of jobless benefits ~ AGAIN! Despite the mounting job losses, the President said he opposed the extension on the grounds that, "Unemployment benefits should be temporary in nature to encourage a return to work as quickly as possible." This is like McSame's, "The fundamentals of our economy are sound." - just days before wall Street's meltdown. Heck, even former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan has noted this ridiculous argument doesn't "hold water" in an economy in which BOTH job losses AND unemployment are RISING!

F.Y.I.: Bush was against the June extension and it only passed because he was strong-armed into signing as the extension as it was lumped together with the last Iraq War funding bill (US$190.39 BILLION). So, should We be surprised he's against this new extension? Fool me once...Well, you get it. In a twist of irony, Bush found it MOST NECESSARY to expediently demand an $850 BILLION bailout of his PRIVATE CORPORATION cronies using TAXPAYER$ DOLLAR$, but won't support national health care, NOR monies to extend the benefits of some THREE MILLION unemployed workers. Pardon? Where's the Main Street L-O-V-E?

To add insult to this MOST EGREGIOUS injury, leadership in the House of Representatives made a fateful decision NOT to include an extension of jobless benefits in the economic stimulus package they did pass (in just five days time). DUH! The Senate pushed to include an extension of jobless benefits as part of the package, but the measure was defeated after falling JUST ONE VOTE SHY of the 60 votes needed for the initiative to pass. JUST ONE VOTE! Last Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made a last-minute motion on the Senate floor for "unanimous consent" to adopt the Senate measure (S. 3507) to expand jobless benefits. It was defeated when Colorado Republican Senator Wayne Allard objected to the motion. As a result, the Senate left town for the elections recess WITHOUT passing the extension. Just like that, our "representatives" cold-heartedly left MILLIONS Americans hanging ~ with LITTLE-TO-NO hope on their horizons. REMEMBER THEIR NAMES! WRITE THEM DOWN! when YOU go to VOTE on whether or not to KEEP THEM EMPLOYED!

Last Friday, however, the House of Representatives - in an overwhelming bi-partisan vote of 368 to 28 - weighed-in convincingly IN SUPPORT of the extension measure (H.R. 6867). Coinciding with last Friday's announcement of major job losses last month, the House vote sent the message LOUD and CLEAR to both the Senate AND the President that action MUST BE TAKEN RIGHT AWAY to address the desperate needs of the families hardest hit by the economic downturn. Well, if six weeks later is considered RIGHT AWAY, anyway.

Amazing how things work when WE're asleep at the wheel, isn't it? I mean, it took barely five days to bail out Wall Street...handing private corporations $850 BILLION in TAXPAYER DOLLARS was a IMPERATIVE. YET, We the People are forced to wait SIX WEEKS for a, "Maybe you'll get a temporary 7-13 week reprieve, maybe not.

You're just NOT THAT IMPORTANT, Main Street. Sorry, we have to break now to go forward to get your votes."

That's a mighty long time to ask People to hold their collective breath and to stay above the murky waters already drowning them! This is beyond reprehensible! Anyone else feeling sick here?

It's ok. Breathe...just breathe. This measure the House passed would provide seven more weeks of extended benefits to workers in all states (20 weeks total) and 13 more weeks to workers in "high unemployment" states (33 weeks total). The 8,000 workers who are members of www.unemployedworkers. org were instrumental in moving their members of Congress to support this effort with such an overwhelming show of support from both Democrats and Republicans in the House of Representatives.

Now, the focus shifts BACK to the (lame) Senate and this "lame duck" session of Congress will take place - according to Majority Leader Reid, on NOVEMBER 17th -19th. SIX ~ WEEKS ~ IS ~ A ~ LONG ~ WAY ~ AWAY for the families of workers who are struggling to get by with no job and no jobless benefits to support them RIGHT NOW. As Senators of both political parties will be home campaigning these next six weeks, they SHOULD HEAR - IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS - that it was ABSOLUTELY WRONG TO LEAVE TOWN WITHOUT EXTENDING UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS AND this NEEDS TO BE THEIR FIRST ORDER of BUSINESS, should they be fortunate enough to return to Washington. TELL THEM YOU WILL VOTE FOR THEIR OPPONENT IF THEY DON'T SUPPORT THIS ~ PERIOD!

Why did the mortgage market melt down so badly? Why were there so many defaults when the economy was not particularly weak? Why were the securities based upon these mortgages not considered anywhere as risky as they actually turned out to be?

This report concludes that, in an attempt to increase home ownership, particularly by minorities and the less affluent, virtually every branch of the government undertook an attack on underwriting standards starting in the early 1990s. Regulators, academic specialists, GSEs, and housing activists universally praised the decline in mortgage-underwriting standards as an “innovation” in mortgage lending. This weakening of underwriting standards succeeded in increasing home ownership and also the price of housing, helping to lead to a housing price bubble. The price bubble, along with relaxed lending standards, allowed speculators to purchase homes without putting their own money at risk.

The recent rise in foreclosures is not related empirically to the distinction between subprime and prime loans since both sustained the same percentage increase of foreclosures and at the same time. Nor is it consistent with the “nasty subprime lender” hypothesis currently considered to be the cause of the mortgage meltdown. Instead, the important factor is the distinction between adjustable-rate and fixed-rate mortgages. This evidence is consistent with speculators turning and running when housing prices stopped rising.

The Political Assassination of Governor Eliot Spitzer

So, THAT'S what happened! Personally, I've always liked Mr.Spitzer for the causes he's tirelessly championed throughout the years. What do I think about our New York Governor's midnight visits? I don't care. Namely, because it's none of my beeswax. Frankly, it's a matter between Spitzer & his wife - period.

Mark my words, this won't be the last We hear from dear Eliot. Like the Governor of California once said, "I'll be back!" - and back he'll be. Give it some time to "blow over" & when the sh*t hits the fan - and the sh*t is going to hit the fan - NY will see this phoenix rise from the proverbial ashes!

After first viewing and crying, I had to quickly wipe away my crocodile tears. Next, I Iaughed at the irony of Our present-day situation - and finally, I created this blog. Let me start by asking readers and viewers if they can rightly recall the very same people in charge (by way of financial backing) of the original expansion into and later, of the U.S.? Hint: they belonged to the same circle of groups in charge of orchestrating this Trans-Texas corridor. Yes, those exploitative bankers and the otherwise wealthy elite. Sadly, this really is nothing new.

Perhaps we should have paid closer attention? Because, these individuals had absolutely NO qualms about stealing this country from its native inhabitants. And later settlers also had NO qualms about doing so either. This is partially because they were brainwashed into believing the Indians were the “enemy”. All the while, it was actually they who were the invaders, the terrorists, as it were. The very idea of "enemies" is often as ridiculous as defining what is art and what isn't. Because both are ever-dependent upon which side people are on. No, the privileged didn’t care about humanity then and they certainly don’t care now, because the profit & loss of money – not people - are the only things which concern this group. When are we going to wake up?

Equally as bad as the outright land stealing was the plan and implementation of prison camps. Is this sounding in any way familiar? Those natives not killed or decimated through biological warfare, were forced into submission on reservations - equal, culturally to the inhabitants forced onto them, to prisons. During which time, bankers and the political policy makers not quite owned by them as now, violated the very human rights set up by them in Our own Constitution by importing a slave labor workforce to rapidly build the U.S. into a competitive power economy. This was done in order to earn "respectable" standing at the international table in order to able to "play ball". They then freely opened Our boarders to “foreigners” - not because they wanted to create a utopia, but because they needed more labor in order to continue building the country and to secure a stronghold, whilst they acquired the rest of the country, piece-by-piece.

They enticed immigrants with free land deals and with the promise of a ‘better life”. These same settlers who came, willfully chose to take part in the extermination and in the cultural decimation of the rightful people of this country. And even though these invaders knew the land belonged to others, they chose to take it anyway. You see, people will believe what's convenient to believe – even if they know it’s a lie. Truth, after all, is more difficult to take. The sardonically amusing part about this situation is all of these angry Texans talking about losing “the land which has been in their family for 200 hundred years” are the descendants of those who originally murdered to seize the very same land. Therefore, they’re only losing the land in which their ancestors was stole in the first place.

A few phrases come to mind. One being, "What goes around comes around." The other? It's from that book many so love to read and has been often quoted, "You reap what you sow." As the veil on false sense of security we've enjoyed for some time is slowly being lifted, we must commit ourselves to some resolute plans.

Now, if Americans don’t start waking up in terrifically rapid speeds of light, there’s no for us whatsoever. But where to begin? Taking a look at the history of our own country is a good start. If we go back, we can uncover the elites’ plans for OUR future (figuring for technology, of course). By examining the treatment and continued disdain of the Native American Indians, we will start to see how they plan on taking care of the rest of us. This is one of reasons why the humane treatment of our prisoners/undesirables is imperative for a healthy society. Today it’s “those (suspected) terrorists” being mistreated and illegally tortured, tomorrow it’s you and me. We need a collective wake up call, since the last 200 years seems to have slipped by unnoticed by the majority.

The trans-Texas corridor isn’t just about erasing boarders between Canada, America and Mexico to create a North American Union. This much We know. The end game is to control the people – WE THE PEOPLE. Cutting off access to rural locations via highways and roads accomplishes several things. By squeezing the life from small townships in this manner, a forced migration of once rural people to more central locations occurs. Because rural areas - and the people in them - are difficult to reach, they are also not easily controllable. Look no further than our own Swamp Fox to understand this. If not for this rural man, some believe We would not have won our sovereignty from the British. This is but one reason why knowledge and education are also extremely important. If We don’t know / understand our past, We’re doomed to repeat the same mistakes. The difference being, the power people are learning from their mistakes and have been fine-tuning their solutions. While the majority - We The People - have preferred to remain ignorant concerning our past. It seems to be our preferred choice to take the "easy path', because it's far easier to forget or to pretend things didn’t happen, or to manipulate events, than it is to learn from mistakes, right?

The time has come for people to wake up, shake it off and to stand together, damnit. It’s not about Black vs. White vs. Hispanic; or Catholics vs. Jews; or Christianity vs. Islam; or Israeli vs. Palestinian. It’s about the Haves vs. Have-Nots’ – PERIOD. And, there are more of US than THEM – a hell of a lot more. They only have power by way of the divide and conquer module. By keeping up the divisiveness, We continue to remain ignorant and therefore are choosing to be willing pawns. We’ve turned into a rather pathetic, lazy, ignorant bunch & that’s just where they want us. Except now, We're in the very same situation as the the First People's of America just a few hundred years ago. We're no longer a nation producing anything. All of our manufacturing has been shipped overseas for more profitable gains - and the People are the only losers in this shift. If We are a nation filled with no longer useful people, what is to be? Who will buy China's junk when people have no employ, or are spending any and all discretionary monies on filling in the ever-increasing gaps of inadequate health care? Or, on fuel to fill their ecologically harmful cars? Or, on the astronomical cost of food? The empire is falling in a way that even Chicken Little can't deny.

The time has come to make some very important decisions. As ridiculously misconstrued as the history of the Civil War has gotten in the fabric of our society, the southern states had the states rights angle correct. While the arguement to protect their right to own people was misguided, they were fighting for STATES RIGHTS – granted under Our Constitution. Losing the right to gain and to keep cession from the Union thus helped begin the systematic dismantling of our nation. Because the United States was initially founded as a Constitutional Republic, not a Democracy. It is baffling to think 99% of Americans falsely believe our nation to be a “Democracy”, because this is entirely incorrect. In fact, the "founding father’s" thought the very worst form of government was that of a Democracy and thus spent considerable time and effort coming up with something new and never-before-seen. That "new" was creating a Constitution as the basis for a Constitutional Republic and was truly unique. The true definition of a Democracy is almost exactly the same principal definition of Fascism. And, it was Mussolini himself who said Fascism was not aptly named. He was often quoted always a more appropriate name would be a Corporatization.This is the position from which America now stands. We are no longer a Constitutional Republic, have moved from a Democracy and are now a bona-fide Corporatacracy.

Do you think the dismantling of America's Constitution - the very basis of our governing laws - has just been one huge mistake? If one tears down the foundation upon which an entire country is based and one purposefully and systematically dumbs - down a population by mis-education and abject propagandizing for long enough, People begin to believe the lies and mis-truths. Then, the truth actually becomes a lie. Orwell said it best, “In a time of revolution, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.". Under the Constitution - and because there was never an amendment passed - We’re not supposed to pay any taxes not equally apportioned. In other words, the Federal income tax is rendered unconstitutional and is therefore Constitutionally invalid. 100% of our federal taxes go toward paying the interest on the money Our government borrows from private bankers to print our own money. End the FED time is SINCE 1913 OVERDUE! The U.S. dollar is officially fiat - and not the zippy little Italian sports car variety either, folks. The gold and silver markets are being manipulated. All the Kings horses and all the King's men soon will not be able to put dear old Humpty - Dumpty back together again.

For real CHANGE, We must demand sweeping reform. The politicians are not for the People, they're for people who own them via campaign donation$. It is my hope that through this blog, People will be inspired to create real change. We must Demand campaign finance reform! Our government is NO LONGER a government for the People, it is owned by corporate lobbyists. Demand lobby reform! Get out there and do some research of your own! Start asking yourself questions! Stop believing everything you hear in mainstream media. Create a community organization! Ask yourself why the Patriot Act - under the cover of night and secrecy - was passed with such rapid-fire expediency? The Patriot Act is certainly not protecting US, it’s protecting THEM. As a matter of fact, America is less safe since its passing than today. But this hasn't stopped Bush & co. from using it as a manipulator's ruse to systematically strip Our Constitutional Rights for Our own "protection". No, the Patriot Act allowed over 16 of our Constitutional Rights to be TAKEN – poof! Just like that. We reside in a homeland - a word not used since Adolf Hitler. The dismantling of our Constitution has been a slow, but steady operation. However, if We don’t do something – and SOON - there will be no more Constitution and we will truly live in a “Democracy”.

But remember, without realization, “None are more helplessly enslaved than those who believe they are free.” - Goethe.
